Information in English
The Trænafestival is Taste of the good life:
Nine thousand years ago, some pioneers
looked to the kingdom of islands out in the Arctic Ocean - wondering
if it was possible to go there. It was, they did - and they stayed.
There was not much land that could be harvested, or many trees that
could be felled - but the richness of the surrounding Ocean made it
possible for people to settle. Even today this is one of the richest
fishing fields in Norway, where you can fill the boat with the best
quality and huge variants of fish, mussels and shellfish in a few hours.
By the centuries that followed the ocean richness made the small population of 400 people, that was settled on the islands important tradingpartners in the international stockfishmarked - and in our days on a vary of internationals fishmarkeds. Still most of what comes out of the ocean is exported. This also means that this island; that at first sight can be seen as an isolated place, always have been an highly international place. This will this summer be celebrated - in a three days festival.
The theme is of course fish - where all
those variants that is to be found and prepared; with the international
touch that always has been part of the tradition.
The other important theme is music, where the spirit of pionering that still is part of this peoples’ ethos - celebrateing by bringing new Norwegian "fresh" musical expression into the open in different genres.
The heart and soul of the Trænafestival is the people who makes this a reality. Nearly everyone on the island is participating as workers, and for no payment. Day and night for several weeks they transform this fishingindustial island into a paradise for me and you, and they all hope our stay on the island is the best ever. They all want me and you to feel we are a part of the (ocean people) “Havfolket”. How it’s like living so close to the nature in all its scary, beautifulness.
In the wonderful surroundings, the mystic mountains sticking 300 -400 m straight up from the ocean, the magistic sea eagles, the music, lovely and friendly people, kids playing and bathing in the sea, the sweethearts kissing in the midnight sun, the smell of ocean and the seagulls’ cry, all this poetry gives you a taste of the good life for a short time. Come and be a part of the good energy!

The Trænafestival is a music festival, but we also have other art and culture events meant for all ages. There is a special program for children, and concerts and exhibitions for youth. For senior citizens, we have a boat named “Gamle Helgeland” where it’s possible to get a meal, cool drinks and dance to good music.

The concerts on Sanna:
There are 7 venues at the festival, and
the main festival area is situated on Husøya. One of the venues is
however situated on Sanna, which is the neighbour island. This venue,
Kirkehelleren, is a large cave, a few hundred metres up in a mountainside.
The cave looks like nature’s own cathedral, and also has the acoustic
qualities of one. The myth says that people lived there more than 9000
years ago. During concerts in this setting, the vibes from an ancient
past and the energy that follows has a tendency to put both artists
and audience into the mood that brings out the magic and the mystery
that make the exceptional musical experiences happen
On Sanna, you’ll also find the The Tunnel of Love.
In it’s original form it’s 700 metres long, pit black and like something taken right out of a scary horror movie, but we translate it into the most spectacular light and sound show, where specially invited artists play. On the top, there’s love and champagne for everyone!
You can go to Sanna by boat.
You can see the whole program and read

Accomodation:
There are some challenges arranging a
festival on a small island, and one of them is accommodation. There
is a limited number of rooms available, but the Trænafestival has an
excellent camping site with water closets, showers with both cold and
hot water, and our own security company patrolling the area. Bring your
own tent and join the big family of festival campers
We also have a separate camp site for
families with small kids, with the same facilities as mentioned above.
Prices: NOK 50 (EUR 6) per person for one night.
The camping site has unlimited capacity,
and we open up for campers Wednesday 9th july at noon.
Food and drinks:
The Trænafestival has its own festival restaurant. You will get the most delicious food made of local ingredients, where fish and seafood is the main focus. It’s traditional, it’s gourmet, and it’s not expensive. We believe our restaurant “Fishyfishy Namnam” to be the best fish restaurant in Northern Norway! The restaurant is open every day from 1300 till 2300 during the whole festival.
Festival – food: We have alternatives to restaurant food as well: You can get bacalao, whaleburgers and seamanburger. Exclusive and fantastic.
There are several bars on the festival site, where you can buy cold beer, mineral water, wine and sigarettes.
Groceries, money, bank and post office:
In the local grocery store you can get
everything you need for a good stay at the Trænafestival. The grocery
store also contains post office and a cash machine, accepting all the
major debit and credit cards (Visa, Mastercard) as payment.
Please help us take good care of the enviroment!
Træna is a fragile ecosystem, and we all have to be considerate. Help us recycle, and use the trashcans.
Please don’t leave anything behind
at the festival area, at camping site or in the nature. And please don’t
bring your car: If you have a lot to carry, we’ll help you.
First aid and security:
An ambulance boat with a doctor and medical personnel is on duty, and The Red Cross will also be present during the festival.
The police and security personnel will also be here to make sure all of our guests are safe and well taken care of.
But we must ask you to take good care of your personal belongings, and don’t leave anything you can’t afford to loose.
